Sinus' Giving You Trouble?

I've recently purchased an essential oil diffuser from NYR Organics and I have a friend who sells Doterra Oils and she gave me a great recipe for using my diffuser for the first time, and I wanted to share:

3 Drops Peppermint Oil
3 Drops Lavender Oil
3 Drops Lemon Oil

I slept REALLY well.  I've been doing a lot of research and moving and shaking shoring up my knowledge of essential oils and aromatherapy.  I've had reflexology and an aroma touch therapy treatment with amazing oils.  While I haven't posted in a while, the journey is still on going.  Until next time :)

Let the Journey Begin

I guess I should start by saying that I've always been interested in the more natural ways of living that puts my children in less danger of toxins.  I read on a regular basis how the things we eat, or the things we put in contact with our body cause different sicknesses and diseases. The more shocking thing is that many of those illnesses are causes by the conveniences we have in our lives, or things designed to make our life better.

The list of things that have health side effects is EXTENSIVE.  Say for instance: medicines, plastics, preservatives, chemicals, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, antibacterial agents and cleaners... of course the list goes on.  The shocking thing is that many commercial products contain ingredients that cause cancers, birth defects, and imbalances in the body.

In the last four years my health has been deteriorating even though I am only in my mid thirties.  My weight has spiraled out of control, my hormones are imbalanced, my body is unhealthy and the many medications that I've tried to help me succeed in righting this situation has not helped.  Not too long ago, I considered getting gastric bypass surgery to help with losing the excess weight I've put on in the last 9 years.  For some reason, I thought no, I can't do that.  Its so drastic and scary.  Kudos to those of you who did it!  I'm just too chicken!

I began researching "clean living".  It is such a huge project to research.  What is clean living?  Natural foods? Toxin-free lifestyle?  I've started small.

1) I raise chickens for eggs.  They are free range and antibiotic free.  There are no chemicals in my birds, no pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, or unnatural foods.

2)  I've been growing a small garden every year, and this year I hope to make a bigger one.

3) I'm learning about therapeutic grade essential oils.  One VERY important thing I've learned is that there is a difference between a therapeutic grade oil and one that has been diluted or altered.

I'm hoping that this blog will focus on my journey and I will be able to share my Do's, Dont's, and adventures along the way.  Hopefully people will be able to come visit and get educated more on ways they can help themselves and their family.

I am using Young Living Essential Oils and I've become a distributor so that I can get them wholesale and offer them for sale to others.  If you have any questions about any of the oils I'm learning about, please feel free to contact me.

Home Recipes for Hygeine Essentials

I love to go hunting for any type of recipe book and when I find older one's, I love to see what is inside.  I bought an older Reader's Digest book and couldn't believe what I found!  Here are a few GREAT recipes.

Cinnamon Mint Tooth Powder
13 Tbsp Calcium Carbonate
4   Tbsp Baking Soda
1   Tsp   Salt
25 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
12 Drops Cinnamon Essential Oil

1) Place all ingredients in a food processor and blend.
2) Spoon blended ingredients in a sterile glass jar.
3) To use dip a toothbrush into the powder and lightly moisten.  Brush like normal.  This recipe is supposed to help with sensitive teeth.

Citrus Antiseptic Mouthwash (Must be over 21 to do this one ;)
3/4 Cup Vodka
30  Drops Lemon Essential Oil
25  Drop Bergamot Essential Oil
1 1/4 Cup distilled water

1) Combine first three ingredients and shake vigorously to combine.
2) Add distilled water and shake until well mixed.
3) Leave mixture for 1 week shaking from time to time.
4) To use, shake bottle and mix 1 part mixture with 3 parts warm mater.
*I love how the book tells you not to swallow ;)

Minty-Fresh Tooth Paste
3 1/3 Ounce Calcium Carbonate
1 1/2 Ounce baking soda
1       Tsp Salt
7       Tbsp Glycerin
3-4   Drops Peppermint Essential Oil
2      Drops Green food coloring (optional)

1) Combine first three ingredients and mix.  Then add enough glycerine to make a thick paste.
2) Stir well and add peppermint essential oil drop by drop until a pleasant flavor is reached.
3) Add food coloring if desired.
4) Spoon mixture into a sterile jar that has a lid.
5) Use like normal toothpaste.

This book had so many great recipes for men, and everything from Shampoo to Cold Cream.  Then of course there were sections on painting tiles, flowers, and so much more.   I have no clue if you can even buy this book anywhere, but I got it for $1 at the local library's book sale.  I can't wait to try all the goodies out and I hope that you get outside this summer and find a good treasure hidden at a sale, flea market, or garage sale!

I'll try and post some pictures of some finished products along with my reviews as I make a try the book out!

Have a great day!
